Duke is a wonderful adult dog who was recently rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. This "southern gent" is a mellow dog . It's been said that he is "as cool as a cucumber". He arrived at the sending shelter in South Carolina as a stray. Listed as a three-to-four year old Bully Breed mix (we are thinking Bulldog or Pittie /Lab mix, but no one can be sure?), he was rough looking and underweight. The caring shelter staff soon nurtured Duke back to a healthy weight and gave him lots of tender loving care. He is now at a healthy weight, we are guessing 55-60 lbs. Duke has already been neutered and he is up-to-date with vaccinations. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and is well on the road to recovery. This great guy walks nicely on the leash and has done well when meeting other friendly dogs, both male and female. ‘Mellow, happy, refined, and easygoing’ are just a few of the words that the shelter volunteers have used to describe this handsome guy. He stood calmly and enjoyed getting love with his tail wagging the whole time when he was taken out recently for some playtime. Duke is hoping that his forever home will include a nice soft bed, plenty of yummy treats and good food, and most importantly.......a family or person to call his very own. Duke’s needs are simple. Plenty of love and affection are at the top of his wish list. Dukes' suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. If you would like to give Duke the permanent, or foster, home he will need when he arrives on transport in a week or two, please apply today. You will find our online application on our website at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. Thank you for considering a sweet, mellow Bully Breed blend like our Duke!!

Dawson Puppy, and three of his siblings, were recently rescued from a high kill shelter. Darla and Dean have already found "forever" homes. These babies emanate the true meaning of the work "rescue". They came into the sending shelter on April 3rd at the young age of 8 weeks when their owner was not able to care for the litter any longer. These pups literally grew up first at the shelter and then in foster care due to numerous skin and respiratory issues. They had mange, lice and also had intestinal parasites. It was a good thing that the owner surrendered them in time, because due to neglect they might not have made it if he waited any longer. Fortunately, all of the pups wound up at a very experienced foster home in SC where they received the TLC that they needed in order to get well. The litter is now about six months of age and they range in weight between 25-30 lbs. All of the pups are playful and loving. They are doing very well with recovering from the issues they had months ago and are are now very happy, energetic pups. Dawson Puppy is now neutered, micro-chipped and tested for heart-worm disease. He is on preventatives and he has received all of his vaccinations. All he needs now is a loving home to call his very own. The suggested adoption donation for Dawson Pup is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Amber Puppy, and her friend, Alvin, were recently rescued from a high kill shelter. These babies were found running together as strays and brought in by animal control. Amber is estimated to be around 4-5 months of age and her approximate weight is 25 lbs. Both of these amazing pups are described as calm, well-behaved, playful and loving. They are both listed as Lab mixes but only a DNA test will tell what their exact breed make up is for sure. We are guessing that they will be medium-to-large sized dogs when fully grown. Amber and Alvin were shy puppies when first arriving at the shelter but both have been coming out of their shells nicely and working on becoming more outgoing and adventurous. Amber is wonderful with people and she does very well with other dogs. We do not foresee cats as being a problem but caution should always be taken when introducing cats to any new dog. Amber Puppy is now spayed and micro-chipped. She is on preventatives and she is current with vaccinations. All she needs now is a loving home to call her very own. Belle is a beautiful Bully mix of sorts (very possibly Lab/Bully mix or....maybe even Rottie/Bully mix?) who was recently rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. She was brought into the shelter as an owner surrender. The owner no longer had the time for her that she needed to be a happy pooch. Belle is a little on the timid side but still VERY affectionate and attentive to her people. She is just a young girl. She is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years of age. She weighs about 50 lbs. Belle is lacking in the confidence area but comes around quickly, especially with the companionship of another confident dog. So a "forever" home with a doggie friend or two, is super important for this good girl. She gets along very well with every dogs she meets, both male and female and she greets other dogs timidly and politely. She will be arriving on transport on July 21st and she would love nothing more than to meet her new adopters when she gets here. Belle is slightly timid, but with the help of some doggie friends she does warm up quickly. We are unsure as to how she would be with cats, but Belle is so "tender-hearted" that we think she would be fine with them. Caution, of course, should always be taken when introducing any new dog to cats. If you're looking for a beautiful, young girl to add to your "pack" please submit an application for Belle at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. . She has already been spayed and micro-chipped and she is current with vaccinations, too. Belle has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and she is well past her "limited activity" period. Her suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Thank you for considering a very sweet, rescued, Bully mix dog!

Sandy is a wonderful dog who is in need of rescue. She came from a high kill shelter in SC but she has been in the loving care of a foster home. It is time for Sandy to continue on with her journey and make her way to a forever home. We are ready, willing and able to help her do just that....but first she needs to find a place to go when she arrives. We can bring Sandy up on transport as early as July 21st, so if you feel a connection with her and would like to give her a permanent, or even a foster, home when she makes her journey to PA, please do not hesitate to put an application in for her. Sandy serves as a "cheerleader dog" at her foster mom's house. Her cheerful, playful personality encourages all other dogs to become her friend. Sandy is a low-rider full figured girl at 45-50 lbs. She is 2-3 years old and heart-worm negative. She would love a home with another canine friend, and cats are A-okay in her book, too! Sandy loves to play with other dogs, but she plays gently and politely. She is great with shy dogs; she helps them gain confidence. Sandy is housebroken, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. She is very polite, never barking and she sleeps soundly in her crate after playtime with her friends. Sandy has already been spayed and micro-chipped. She is current with vaccinations and she is on preventatives. If you would like to give Sandy the "happily-ever-after" part of her life that she so deserves, please apply today at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. A rescue volunteer will contact you once your application has been reviewed and approved. Sandy's suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Thank you for considering a wonderful Bully breed girl...please give her a chance to be rescued. We are sure that she will repay you with unconditional love for the rest of her days.

Grace Ann, and her litter of six gorgeous puppies, were rescued from a high kill shelter at the end of 2017. All of the puppies have long been adopted. Grace Ann spent extra time in SC due to being treated for heart-worm disease, being tested with other dogs, etc. Somehow she wound up in a foster home and was so little trouble that everyone seemed to forget that she was supposed to be going to rescue. She has been well socialized and it looks as though she put on some weight and is very healthy looking now as compared to her original shelter pictures. Grace Ann is about three years of age now and she weighs around 50 lbs. She would probably be considered to be a medium-to-large sized dog. She had a ball playing with toys the day she arrived on transport. Her video is a MUST SEE to get a feel for what a happy dog she is. Here is how her foster mom in SC describes her at this time: "This lovely mama dog has been in foster with me for quite some time. Grace Ann is as beautiful and sweet as her name suggests. A typical Bully girl, she loves her person with her whole heart. She enjoys a quick romp in the yard, but she mostly wants to snuggle on the couch with her person. Grace Ann looks to her person for cues and is submissive and obedient, always aiming to please. She gets along with the other male and female dogs here, but she prefers being with her person rather than being in the company of canine friends. When she goes out to potty, she does her business then comes right back to the door where her foster mom waits. She pays no attention at all to cats. The ideal home for Grace Ann would be a single person or small family who could dote on Grace Ann and give her all of their love and attention that seems to have missed out on up until now. She would very much enjoy daily walks and then sharing a good snuggle on the couch. If Grace Ann sounds like a girl who would blend in well with your family and your lifestyle, please apply for her today at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. Our online application is easy to complete and a rescue volunteer will then contact you in a short period of time. Grace Ann has been spayed, vaccinated and treated for heart-worm disease. She is heart-worm free now and she is on preventives, too. She has also been micro-chipped. Her suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Zelilah is an absolutely gorgeous girl who was recently rescued from a high kill shelter when she was turned in by her former owner. We are told that the reason was that her owner could not afford to take care of her any longer. The fact that she was let down by her family has not really affected her and she is still very happy and playful and full of life. It is determined that she will be just under a year of age when she arrives on transport on July 14th. She has been listed as a Lab/Shepherd mix. She weighs in at around 50 lbs. The former owner listed her as being good with children and great with other dogs. So we believe that Zelilah would make a great family companion. She has met several dogs at the sending shelter, both male and female, and has gotten along wonderfully with all. That being said, a doggie sibling in her "forever" home would be great! It is unknown how Zelilah is with cats right now so caution should be taken when introducing kitty friends. Zelilah has already been spayed and she is up-to-date with vaccinations. She recently tested negative for heart-worm disease and she is on heart-worm and flea and tick preventatives. Zelilah is also micro-chipped. Her suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of vet bills. Destiny is a beautiful, young Hound (Foxhound?) mix who was recently rescued from a high kill shelter after being brought in as a stray by animal control. She is estimated to be 1-2 years old and she weighs about 40 lbs. Is it YOUR Destiny to help OUR Destiny? Well, we sure hope so! Destiny is honestly just as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. If Destiny does not turn your head, you might need an eye check! This lovely, tri-colored hound is low key, gentle in nature and she truly just loves everyone she meets. Graced with a soft, loving personality and being super easy to leash walk, Destiny would be an excellent choice for a family with kids of all ages. A home with other dogs and a home looking for a dog who loves to cuddle and snuggle would suite her just fine. We are unsure how she is with cats at this time. While out in the exercise area at the sending shelter, Destiny was quick on her feet when the shelter worker called for her. This adoring lady is eager-to-please, super friendly and affectionate and frankly everything you would expect in a perfect companion animal. Destiny has already been spayed and she is up-to-date with vaccinations. She recently tested negative for heart-worm disease and she is on heart-worm and flea and tick preventatives. Meet the absolutely adorable "Calhoun Puppy" of the C-PUPS! This cutie will be available for adoption on July 14th and we are accepting applications for him now! He is the only male that we have from this litter and he is a bit stockier than his two sisters. But he is just as sweet. These pups were born at the shelter on May 5th and will be exactly ten weeks old at the time of their arrival to PA. Their mom, Cally, is very sweet and loving. She is pictured with her big belly before giving birth and also with her puppies afterwards. Two of the puppies were picked up by another rescue and we were lucky enough to be able to provide rescue for three of them. Momma is a Bully blend of some sort and she only weighs about 31 pounds. We are guessing that the pups have some Boxer in the mix but only a DNA test will tell for sure. The pups will weigh around 10-12 lbs. when they are transported. Calhoun may weigh in slightly larger. We are assuming that they should be medium sized dogs when fully grown. All of the pups are very playful and happy. That we do know. They were playing in a pile of dirt when foster mom snapped most of the pics so if they look a little dirty...they are!! But, we can assure you that they will be all cleaned up in time to go home with you. They are doing well. Calhoun, and his sisters, are all sweet and snugly one-on-one and playful and feisty when together. They wrestle and play with toys - tug and chew toys and chase the ball. Calhoun is like "Mufasa" in the movie The Lion King. He is a giant compared to the rest and he is confident and content. Everyone loves Calhoun!! Calliope, Caleesi and Calhoun are current with vaccines, spayed or neutered and micro-chipped. The suggested adoption donation for Calhoun Puppy is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. If you would like to give one of these pups a wonderful home, please submit the adoption application through our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com and a volunteer will be in touch after your application have been reviewed and approved. Thomas has quite an adventure to tell... He was recently rescued from a high kill shelter after being brought into the shelter as a stray...not once... but TWICE within a period of one short year!! First time around, Thomas went by the name of "Roman" and he was brought into the sending shelter last spring. He was mostly petrified at the shelter and had to be carried to the exercise area. He did not seem to know how to walk on a lead. He was put into a foster home where he very quickly escaped from his foster's yard by climbing a chain link fence. He was missing for almost a full year. The second time around, he was picked up by animal control and brought back into the shelter. Unfortunately but not surprisingly.. this time he tested positive for heart-worm disease for which he has been treated. Now called "Thomas" , he was still quite a shy boy but a more "perky" dog who truly blossomed whenever he was around other dogs. Thomas is listed as being around four years of age now and he weighs about 45 lbs. He will need a home, obviously, where his family would not be depending on a chain link fence for safety. A home with other dogs would be a must. An adopter with experience with shy dogs would be GREAT!! We have been told that Thomas has come around quite a bit while he was at the shelter being treated for heart-worm disease and recovering from that. He does come out to greet visitors now and his nervousness did seem to diminish some. We are sure that transport will put him back a few paces but nothing that a little "down time" and some TLC couldn't help cure. This sweet boy is already neutered and micro-chipped. He is also current with vaccinations and on preventatives. If you would like to have a wonderful Border Collie mix in your life, please apply for sweet Thomas today. He will be available for adoption, or foster, on Sunday June 16th. You can find the application on the rescue website at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com A rescue volunteer will contact you once your application has been reviewed and approved. Thomas's suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Thank you for considering a very handsome, rescued, Border Collie mix!!

7-05-19 - Well it's been a month since we gave an update on how our sweet Nyla is doing and ... she's doing GREAT.!! Here is what her foster mom has to say: "Our Nyla girl is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Personality wise shes very sweet and she is just the world's biggest fan of cuddles and belly rubs. She enjoys her walks and she does walk very nicely on a leash. Nyla is very smart. She learns quickly and does get along very well with other dogs. Nyla is totally potty trained and she doesn't mind her crate at all. She goes into the crate without a fuss now and never makes a sound. She doesn't appreciate fireworks, though. We did fine that out. 6-05-19 - Nyla is a very sweet, Plott Hound/Bully mix, of sorts, who was recently rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. She is listed as being 1-2 years old and she weighs about 50-55 lbs. Nyla is a girl’s name of Arabic origin meaning "winner". Nyla, a gorgeous, stocky brindle girl, did not feel like a winner when she arrived at the South Carolina shelter back in January. This one- to two-year-old stray was very frightened in the shelter environment.....that was until she met a new friend, Brutus the BIG dog. Brutus helped this sweet baby reveal the true Nyla, who turned out to be a real belly rub fan! Nyla and Brutus became best friends (you can see her giving him sweet kisses in the video).. Unfortunately, Brutus and Nyla both tested positive for heart-worm disease.. but, both have now been treated. Brutus and Nyla were also BOTH rescued by One Life To Live Rescue. Brutus has already arrived on transport and has gone off to begin the "happily-ever-after" part of his life in his loving, forever home. Now...it's Nyla's turn to find her new home, also. She will be arriving on transport on June 16th and she would love nothing more than to meet her new adopters when she gets here. A more quiet home, loaded with another friendly dog, or two, will really help her along as she adjusts to her new "normal." She is slightly timid, but with the help of some doggie friends she does warm up quickly. We are unsure as to how she would be with cats, but she is so "tender-hearted" that we think she would be fine with them. Caution, of course, should always be taken when introducing any new dog to cats. If you're looking for a beautiful girl who needs a bit of help in building her confidence please submit an application for Nyla at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. . She has already been spayed and micro-chipped and she is current with vaccinations, too. Nyla has been treated for heart-worm disease and she is well past her "limited activity" period. Her suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Thank you for considering a very sweet, rescued, mixed-breed dog!

UPDATE 6-17-19 - Banjo was seen by a heart specialist today. He was diagnosed with Pulmonic Stenosis which means that he is going to need surgery to fix a valve in his heart that is not working properly. Without the surgery he will not live a normal happy life. So, we are in the process of setting up a Go Fund Me to assist with this very large vet bill and updates will soon be following. 5-13-19 -WE HAVE SOME ADORABLE PUPPIES AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION SOON! This guy is Banjo Puppy!! The B-litter was rescued from a high kill shelter and will be on their way to rescue soon! They will be available for adoption May 19th. Mom is tan hound mix (pictured) and dad is white purebred bulldog? (or, so we have been told). Banjo Puppy is approximately 12 weeks old and the most recent weight we received on him was 10.2 lbs. This was on May 9th. We are told that these puppies are quite calm and very sweet. Banjo Puppy does have a grade 5/6 heart murmur. We are going to have his assessed when he arrives on transport but he will need a "special" owner who can follow up on cardiologist appointments and meds. if and when needed. The puppies will all be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and current with vaccines when they arrive. We are accepting applications for them now! If you would like to give one of these darlings a wonderful home, please submit the adoption application through our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com today! A volunteer will be in touch with you shortly afterwards. The suggested adoption donation for Banjo Puppy is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. Thank you for considering a rescued, Mixed-Breed Puppy!!

Max Valentino is an adorable little Wire-haired Chihuahua (possibly a mix but we don't think so) who was recently rescued from a high kill NYC shelter. Max takes a little time to warm up to new people but, once he got comfortable in his foster home, his personality really blossomed. He can be startled by loud noises or quick movements but is getting more comfortable each day. Max Valentino is quite playful and especially loves cat toys. He also is a big fan of laps and does love attention! Although his information from the shelter said he’d never been around other dogs, he immediately took to the other two small dogs in his foster home. He also tries to play with the cats in his foster home, however, they are unimpressed with his advances. Max likes to go for walks in the neighborhood and walks nicely on a leash, sticking close to his person. He does NOT like the snow and who can blame him??!! Max does need work on house training, which is common for NYC dogs since they are often paper or wee wee pad trained and are not used to doing their business outside. He is working on his house training skills in his foster home. He also submissive pees when being picked up but, hopefully, as his confidence grows, this will subside. Overall, Max would make a very nice companion for a quieter household with no small children. Max weighs only 8.5 pounds and is approximately 2 years old. He is neutered and current with vaccines. He recently tested negative for heart-worm disease and he is on preventatives. Max Valentino's suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. If you would like to give this sweet little Chihuahua a loving home, please submit the adoption application, which can be found on our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. A rescue volunteer will then be in touch with you shortly afterwards. Thank you for considering a little, rescued Chihuahua boy!!

Update from foster mom (4-24-19): When Doc was returned to rescue, we did not get back the same dog... the "happy-go-lucky" guy who never met a stranger. But, he is now an insecure guy who doesn't trust new people. We will never know the reason why but it is sad. After spending a few months in his current foster home, Doc has been making progress with his fears and anxiety. He has recently been updated on his vaccinations. Here is what his foster mom has to say: "Doc is looking for his forever home and his next best friend. Like any young man he prefers the ladies. After being returned to rescue in December it is recommended that he lives in a home without children. He is working on his confidence and has been nervous meeting new people. However, once you give him yummy treats and he gets to know you he will love you and be your shadow. He loves to go for walks at the park, but he prefers if human strangers keep their distance. He really loves all dogs and always wants to play with every dog he meets. Some of his other favorite things to do is play with squeaky toys, cuddle in bed on the weekends, go for rides, and snack on frozen peanut butter Kongs. He is working on his manners in his foster home and already knows how to sit, shake, lay down, spin, play fetch, and take a bow. He walks nicely on the leash unless he sees a squirrel. He loves to play with his 2 doggy foster sisters, but this was after supervised interactions for the first week. Doc really loves all dogs, but since there are no cats in his current foster home it is hard to tell how he would do living in a house with cats. He is about 75 lbs, but thinks he’s a lap dog." 9-27-19 - WHAT'S UP DOC?! We'll tell you what's up - DOC was rescued from a high kill shelter and now he needs a home! Doc is a free spirit and has not a care in the world. This tail wagging, hip-swiveling fellow is fun and engaging, self entertaining and is a hoot to be around. Inquisitive and always ready to go and do, Doc has never met a stranger and no matter where he is, he makes it a fun, happy place. A skilled leash walker, Doc is a medium energy fellow. Arriving at the shelter with his good hound/beagle friend, Chester (who was also rescued), Doc never lost a beat in making other friends at the shelter and can't wait to share his sweet, kissy personality with his new family. A home with no small children would probably be best for Doc. Older children would be fine. Doc will tell you that he's a guaranteed smile maker and knows how to get the pet job done. Doc is wonderful with other dogs and is good with cats, too. Doc is listed as a Hound mix and he is 2-3 years old. He is neutered, micro-chipped and current with vaccines. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and is well on the road to a full recovery. Doc currently weighs about 50 pounds. His suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of vet bills. If you would like to adopt Doc, please submit the adoption application, which can be found on our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com! A rescue volunteer will be in touch once your application has been reviewed and approved!! Thank you for considering a wonderful, rescued Hound mix!!
